Ofsted Report

18 November 2011

 Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find below the Ofsted Monitoring report resulting from the Inspection the school had on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 November.

The letter clearly demonstrates the very positive progress that the school is making and judges the school’s progress as “Good” in making improvements and “Good” in demonstrating a better capacity for sustained improvement.

In the letter, the inspector can only say so much, so his comments are primarily related to the issues laid out in last year’s report. The points made are extremely encouraging and clearly demonstrate that the school is making great strides in these areas. Ofsted have also clearly recognised the accelerated progress pupils are making across the school and that by Year 8 they are exceeding national expectations.

In his verbal feedback the inspector once again commented on the caring, positive and enthusiastic atmosphere he experienced. The excellent relationship staff have with pupils, the positive ethos of success in the school and the outstanding behaviour and attitude of the pupils. Praise indeed in ’Ofsted’ language!

The school should feel justly proud of this achievement, this once again clearly demonstrates that Dedworth Middle continues to be a rapidly improving school.

The report inevitably provides us with some areas that we still need to develop, but rest assured Staff and Governors will continue to work hard to provide the best education possible for your children at Dedworth Middle School.

Your feedback and comments on the Inspectors findings will be most welcome.  The report is also available on the Ofsted website:  www.ofsted.gov.uk/reports

Yours sincerely

S.A. Muir
