Writing a Song
Year 7 pupils are learning about various musical influences and forms.
Your EDiT task is to become a lyricist.
You will need to write a song or rap and create a recording or music video to support this.
You must include:
A draft of ideas/mind map and notes for the inspiration of the lyrics
A written copy of the lyrics
A recording of the song or a music video, and it must be you singing it
Ideas:
- You can write your song/rap on any topic of your choice i.e. love, the weather, school, friendship, sadness/ happiness, days out etc.
- What will be the style/genre of your song be? Think about the styles of songs you like listening to the most as this will probably help you decide how your song will sound. Do you like sad sounding songs? Happy, upbeat songs? Emotional, heart pouring ballads? Funky, dance, hip-hop? Mixture of rap and singing?
- Bonus points will be given if you are able to create a backing track to sing along to.
- You may include your friends in the recording/music video, either as backing singers or dancers, but the project will only be marked as yours.
- What will the theme of your music video be? What would the dress code be?
When you hand in your EDiT task, you need to include sketches/notes of your ideas – these could be collated in a scrapbook or shown on a poster, or even presented on a PowerPoint!
Please hand the completed project into Miss Horner by Friday 16th March
