Manga and Me

Year 7 pupils are learning about different styles of artists and artwork.

Your EDiT task is to become a Manga artist.

You will need to:

• Take a photo of yourself, taken as a portrait
• Draw a grid over the photo in equal spacing, then draw out a grid in the same measurements and draw your portrait
• Research the Japanese cartoon art form: Manga
• Draw several Manga style characters
• Draw yourself as a Manga character
• Write your profile as a Manga character, i.e. special powers, likes, dislikes etc

Now that you have created your character, you are to present your findings in a creative way.

Presentation

Use the information you have found to present in

A Powerpoint/ICT based way (remember though that this is an Art project and will need drawings rather than print outs from a computer)

• An autobiography of the character
• A leaflet/poster
• A documentary written and/or filmed
• A model made or artwork
• Any other creative way

When you hand in your EDiT task, you need to include sketches/notes of your ideas – these could be collated in a scrapbook or shown on a poster, or even presented on a PowerPoint!

Please hand the completed project into Mrs North by Friday 16th March
